Colorado Union of Taxpayers 2011 Legislative Scorecard
The Colorado Legislature once again fails the Colorado Taxpayers. Legislators did manage to repeal some of 2010 “dirty dozen” tax bills (see HB1005 & HB 1293); however, the most offensive of those; the vehicle late registration “fee” (see HB1084) and the Amazon tax (see HB1318) were killed in Senate committee.

SB11-019 Small Employer Health Insurance Payments
The Colorado Republican Business Coalition (“CRBC”) strongly supports SB11-019, permitting employers with less than fifty employees to reimburse their employees for some or all of health insurance premiums paid.

SB11-168 Colorado Healthcare Cooperative
The ultimate end of this bill is the creation of a single payer health care cooperative. The CRBC strongly urges Senators to vote NO on SB11-168

SB11-072 Incentivizes Employees to Sue Small Biz Employers
This bill makes is easier for employees to sue their employers under Colorado law for expanded classes of economic damages, as well as for non-economic damages.

HB11-1141 Business Personal Property Tax Exemptions
For over 10 years, our members have consistently voiced their concerns to us about the anti-business and job-killing impact that the Business Personal Property Tax has on the businesses in Colorado.

HB11-1052 Pay-As-You-Go Undermines Budget Priorities
We believe this bill will not achieve its stated goal of helping Colorado balance its budget and will undermine efforts to prioritize spending.

HB11-1228 Forced Energy Profits Raise Costs
This bill will lead to legislation that will require utilities to buy electricity generated from private concerns at much higher rates than the utilities’ cost to generate power.

SB11-071 Roll-Back Unrealistic and Punitive Alternative Energy Mandates
This will significantly slow down the current energy rate increases, which over the last 6 years have been double the inflation rate (or 21% in the last 6 years – per a 2/5/11 Denver Post article).

SB11-068 Creation of Arbitrary “Public Impacts” Raises Cost of Business and Kills Jobs
In this time of economic uncertainty, our legislature should be focused on creating a more hospitable environment for businesses. Senate Bill 068 creates more economic uncertainty.
